Barracudas Swim Meet Information
SAAB vs Granada Hills Western Oaks
Our second swim meet of the season is this Saturday, June 2, at the South Austin Area Barracudas (SAAB) pool.
Meet Information:
The meet starts at 8:00 am sharp. Please plan accordingly to check in with your age group parent between 6:45 and 7:00. Warm ups
for our team will be from 7:15 to 7:45. The goal is to have the first heat on the blocks at 7:55, ready to start the meet by 8:00.
Parking is not permitted in the back lot of Baranoff Elementary before or during the meet on Saturday. This is the lot that is
accessible from Gatling Gun. PLEASE DO NOT PARK IN THIS LOT! However, you MAY park in the FRONT lot of the school. This is
the lot that is accessible from Buckingham Gate. Parking is also available along the street. The available streets are Gatling Gun
Way, Warwick, and Buckingham Gate. The Pool/Amenity Center parking lot will be closed for safety reasons and available only for
handicapped parking.
All zoos will be located in the grassy area East of the pool. Hopefully, they will not have mosquitoes, but it might not be a bad idea
for you to bring bug spray just in case. While they have treated the grass, fire ants are always a possibility.
Spectators may enter the pool on the East side through the double gates. They will have space inside the fence area around the pool
for some spectators. There is also some space around the outside of the pool on the East and West sides. Please bring your own
folding chairs for use around the pool.
They have a 5-lane pool and will follow the meet format dictated by the Bylaws (girls and boys alternating with girls first): IM,
Freestyle Relay, Backstroke, Freestyle, Medley Relay, Breast, Butterfly. Time and interest permitting, we will have a parent and/or
coaches relay before the Medley Relay.
Volunteer meetings will be at 7:30 in the following locations:
- Timers: inside the amenity center
- Stroke and Turn Judges: by the baby pool
- Ready Bench: the ready bench
- Hospitality: the hospitality table, located at the east end of the pool
- Ready Bench : at Ready Bench
- Runners : near the Starter's tent
- Ribbons : at the ribbons desk inside the amenity center
Traffic flow on deck:
Swimmers (and only swimmers) enter the pool area through the North gate near the Ready Bench.
- 25 yd events will feed from Ready Bench to the West end of pool (opposite the Timers' end).
- 50 yd events will start from the Timers’ end.
- All swimmers will exit the pool through the double gates in the East fence.
Concessions will be available at the Gazebo adjacent to the parking lot (North of the pool). They will have full breakfast and lunch
concessions.
Heat sheets will not be available at the meet. They should be available for download from the Swim Meets page on Friday afternoon.
Note: The Baby Pool is closed during swim meets.
